Website Usability Testing

These next few sites operate in similar fashion but each has their unique platform and testing methods. I would sign up for as many as possible since the number of tests from each is not great, but together, they can provide a reliable steady side income for just minutes a day!

Validately

Validately pays $10 per test and the tests only take about 15 minutes each to complete

Once you register as a tester with Validately, they may contact you wanting you to review a website. Tests are available to take on smartphones, tablets, and PCs. You will need to invest in a webcam, as the testing is live. The moderators will ask you questions, and your responses are recorded. They may ask you your opinion, or ask you to click on a certain area. You might be asked to try to go through a sample transaction, so they can get feedback on how usable the site is. Payment from Validately is through PayPal. Payment amounts vary, and some tests may be short, say 15 minutes, and some may be longer, an hour or more.

UserTesting

UserTesting pays $10 per test and the tests only take about 20 minutes each to complete

Once you’ve found a test that you’re a good match for, you will use the UserTesting on-screen recorder and a microphone to record your thoughts as you explore the website. Your face will NOT be recorded, and the company you are reviewing will not know your name. UserTesting will give you questions as prompts, so just explore the site and answer the questions to the best of your ability. The questions aren’t difficult. You’re just giving your feedback on the site in general. You’ll have a couple of written questions to fill out afterwards too. Then, once you’re done, UserTesting will send your feedback to the company and you’ll get paid via PayPal!

UserZoom

UserZoom pays 10$ per test and the tests only take between 10 and 20 minutes.

Once you fill out the application, you will be sent a sample test. You will need a working webcam, or smartphone with a front-facing camera. Most of the studies take between 10 and 20 minutes to complete.

Getting paid for testing has been really easy. They deposit directly into your PayPal account. Payments are made within 21 days of testing, and your tests are usually reviewed and approved within 2-3 days. So far since I joined, I have taken 6 tests, and have been paid $10 each time. I have not qualified for all tests, but there have been some good opportunities. Tests are based on user demographics.

TryMyUi

TryMyUi pays $10 per test, usually takes 15-20 minutes.

The TryMyUI application process is pretty simple. First, you’ll fill out a pretty standard form that has basic demographic information on it. Kinda like signing up for a survey site, but seems to be much easier and not as many questions.

After you complete the form you’ll need to submit a sample test. You’ll need to record a sample test video along with a written test response. Both are very simple, they provide you with what they expect and how to kill both tests.

UserBrain

The pay varies, but on average you can expect to make about $10 for every site you test.

Website testing involves reviewing various sites, and recording your observations about navigation, ease of use, whether links work, and any other useful information.

Try MY UI focuses on testing websites for usability, so you’ll capture video of your computer screen (screen cast) while recording your impressions (via microphone) about the website’s design, and complete specific tasks the client is testing for.

Tests range from 15 to 20 minutes long, and you’ll be paid $10 for every test.

WhatUsersDo

I netted $10 after about 20 minutes.

What Users Do is a usability testing or UX testing platform, which rewards you for recording your interactions, reactions, thoughts and opinions as you browse a client’s website or app.

Usability testing is simply the process of observing and analyzing how people use a product, so companies can improve its user experience and increase sales. Therefore, different from a marketing research, they are not only interested in your opinions but also how you interact with the website/app and what are your instant reactions.

Application Testing, Bug Bounties & Security Testing

These next few sites operate in similar fashion but each has their unique platform and testing methods. I would sign up for as many as possible since the number of tests from each is not great, but together, they can provide a reliable steady side income for just minutes a day!

uTest

How much are you paid for each bug? Well, as you may guess, it depends entirely on the severity of your bugs (e.g.: how critical your bug is). You are paid the most for the most critical ones, from $16.00-$21.00 per exceptional bug!

With 200,000+ testers, uTest platform is considered as the number one professional network for testers. On this platform, you actually can find almost everything you need to breathe the air of testing.
People give you a project and you get paid for each bug you find in their products. More bugs more money. You can test any time you like in the way you want. No more control from your grumpy boss…you are now your own boss.

TestBirds

Most tests pay from $8-$50. Most beginner tests will pay around $10. More difficult tests pay higher.

Pretty much anyone can create an account at TestBirds, but before you can complete tests, you’ll need to pass their test. From what I’ve heard the beginners test is incredibly easy and they give you some pointers on what they expect before you start the test.

Once you’ve passed the test, you’ll need to add what devices you’d like to take tests on. Once you’re done, you’ll start to receive test notifications from TestBirds. You DO NOT have to complete every test. You can review each test, see the requirements and payment before accepting it.

PlayTestCloud

The reward for doing a good test is at least $9, and for testers that did a good job in the past they sometimes (depending on lots of factors, randomness being one) have tests that pay even more.

What is PlaytestCloud?
They’re a crowdsourcing service that provides video recordings of people playing iOS and Android games for the first time.

You download a new game and play while it records your session in the background. It uploads while you play. Then you have nothing more to do. Uploads are around 5-10 mb/minute, but it really depends on the game.

Testlio

How much are you paid for each bug? Well, as you may guess, it depends entirely on the severity of your bugs (e.g.: how critical your bug is). You are paid the most for the most critical ones

Testlio is a full-service software testing solution. They remove the need to build an entire QA department in-house by partnering with customers and assisting in managing their testing process using their community of top testers. ... Their vision is to completely change how QA is done.

BetaFamily

Some apps are free, but many are $5.00 and $10.00 rewards for testing.

The Beta Family is a beta testing service for iOS and Android applications, enabling developers to beta test their apps on real people, before they're published on iTunes App Store or Android Market.

Developers can distribute their apps easily whilst gaining feedback from real users. Testers can try new apps before they become fully available and get rewarded if they write a good test report.
